Crush
Though the formula for Orange Crush can be traced back to 1906, things really kicked off in 1916 when Clayton J. Howell partnered with Californian Neil C. Ward to incorporate the Orange Crush Company.
Our History
Ward, a beverage and extract chemist, perfected the process of blending ingredients to create the exclusive formula that yielded the zesty, all-natural orange flavour of Orange Crush.
Soft drinks of the time often carried the surname of the creator along with the product name. C. J. Howell was not new to the soft drink business, having earlier introduced Howell's Orange Julep. Since Howell sold the rights to use his name in conjunction with his first brand, Ward was given the naming honours and Crush was first premiered as "Ward's Orange Crush."
Other flavour introductions followed the debut of Orange Crush. Crush is now available in Orange, Diet Orange, Cream Soda, Diet Cream Soda, Grape, Lime nationwide; and Strawberry, Pineapple, and Birch Beer in some provinces.
Today, Crush is part of Canada Dry Mott's, a subsidiary of Plano, Texas-based
Dr Pepper Snapple Group, an integrated refreshment beverage business marketing more than 50 beverage brands throughout North America.
